Googlebot is the name of Google's web crawler — the automated program that visits and reads pages across the web to build Google's search index.

Googlebot primarily crawls using a mobile user agent following Google's shift to mobile-first indexing — meaning what Googlebot sees on the mobile version of a page is generally what matters most for indexing and ranking, even for searches happening on desktop.
