Server-Side Tracking

Conversion API (CAPI)
MartechAnalytics

Server-side tracking sends conversion and event data directly from a business's own server to an ad platform, rather than relying solely on a browser-based pixel.

Browser-based pixels are increasingly unreliable — ad blockers, Safari's Intelligent Tracking Prevention, and iOS privacy changes have meaningfully degraded pixel-only tracking's ability to capture and pass conversion events. Server-side tracking (Meta's Conversion API, Google's Enhanced Conversions and server-side Google Tag Manager) restores signal by sending the same event from a server the business controls, which isn't subject to the same browser-level blocking.

Server-side tracking is a complement to pixels, not typically a full replacement — most platforms recommend running both together with deduplication, since each method can capture events the other one misses.
