ImageCreative variations for testingIntermediateWrites a set of prompts

Creative test set: change one variable at a time

Builds a fixed base prompt and a controlled list of variants that change exactly one element, so a creative test isolates what actually drove results.

For: Performance marketers, Creative strategists, E-commerce marketers · Works with: Any capable chat model (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, others)

Your prompt

You are helping me design an image-ad creative test for an organic baby-food subscription box aimed at first-time parents on Instagram feed (4:5). Step 1: Write ONE base image prompt (about 80-120 words) that describes subject, setting, composition, lighting, colour and style, with no text in the image. Step 2: Pick the single variable to test: background colour. Write 4 variants of the base prompt that change ONLY that variable (for example different background colour values), and keep every other word identical. Step 3: Present the results as a table with the columns: variant ID, what changed, the exact changed phrase, and the hypothesis about why it might perform differently. Step 4: List what must stay constant in the live test (audience, budget, placement, copy, landing page, schedule) so the comparison is fair. Step 5: Note two reasons this test could still be inconclusive and what sample size or duration decision I need to make before launch. Do not state a required sample size as a fact; tell me which inputs determine it. Do not invent performance data or predict winners. Label hypotheses as hypotheses.

Customize

The fields start with example values so you can see how the prompt works. Everything stays in your browser.

How many versions to generate.

Example of what to expect

Illustrative only. It describes the kind of result this prompt aims for; real output varies by tool, model and run.

A base prompt, then a table of four variants that differ only in background colour (sage, blush, warm white, charcoal), a hypothesis per variant, and a list of constants to keep fixed in the live test.

Expected format: Base prompt, variant table, constants list, and risks.

How to use it

  1. Paste the prompt into a chat model, then paste each variant into your image tool.
  2. Log the exact prompt, tool, model and date for every image you ship.
  3. Run the test in your ad platform's own experiment feature where possible.

Limitations

  • This designs a test; it does not tell you which creative will win. Results depend on audience, budget and delivery.
  • One-variable testing is a widely used practice, not a Meta-official requirement; follow your platform's current testing guidance.

Works in any chat assistant. The generated image prompts will need adjusting to each image tool's syntax.

General notes on Any capable chat model (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, others)
  • These prompts are plain text and work in any chat assistant. For analytics prompts, paste a small, anonymised export; a chat model can misread columns or miscalculate, so recompute key numbers yourself.
